Lots to Share!
Jadyn is growing so fast. He rolls over like crazy and has become quite vocal. He absolutely adores Samantha and is quite the giggler. His feet are the most important part of his body right now, with his hands coming in a close second. He has truly added a fun and exciting element to the house and is a definite KEEPER! For the most part, he continues to just be cute, eat, sleep, poop and grow. Here is a quick video that speaks better than words!
Sam on the other hand is in true transition. We are actively registering for Kindergarten and that has been quite the eye opener for times to come. She was fortunate to get accepted into the All-Day kindergarten program in Oswego, which we really wanted. I can’t believe all the details and all the planning. As you know, Sam already had her eye exam and needs glasses before school starts. Her physical was good. She is off the charts for height and weight, but has begun to proportion out since her last visit. One more doctor visit before the school year starts, the Dentist. That should be interesting.
Sam will be starting swim classes at the Civic Center next Saturday and we will be getting season passes for the pool. Unfortunately the pool goers will have to see me in a swim suit…yuk! Jadyn will love the pool, but I think it is still too cold. You know kids, they will love it no matter what. Anyway, we have been spending lots of time outside and Samantha has made good friends with Alexis, whose grandparents live across the street. Her summer goal, learn to ride the bike without the training wheels. I told Bruce that one is up to him! I’ll teach her to drive! No more east coast drivers in this family.
We embarked in a camping upgrade for the Memorial Day weekend. We bought a pop-up camper which has some benefits and disadvantages. Benefits, no hauling the kids up and down in a tent and no sleeping on an air mattress. Disadvantage, won’t have Bruce to help every time because of that unfair work schedule. Had to learn to do it all myself. After a few trial runs in the driveway and several trouble shooting concerns, I was off to the campground solo to set up on Friday while Bruce gave me a night without the kids. We practiced set up and tear down several times. The one thing I hadn’t done was take the camper off the truck by myself. Guess what I had problems with? Anyway, since I was the first to arrive, I had no choice but to call Bruce and get verbal instruction via cell phone. Thank god that after a few encouraging words and good ole craftsman screwdriver, I managed to accomplish the task. Here is the camper in its glory.
You would think the fresh air would encourage a baby to sleep….wrong. Both mornings Jadyn was up by 6:15, and with the exception of a 45 minute morning nap on Sunday, he was up the entire day both days. Even Samantha took a nap (only because her toddler listening skills forced the issue and quiet time was the only way to change the “tude”). Jadyn was absolutely motionless by 7:00 each night. This is what finally happened on Sunday night!
I had covered him in the blanket, but he covered his face. He sleeps like this often, which is interesting because my mom always had to have her eyes covered with a pillow when she slept. Probably from years of sleeping during the day and working nights. This picture made me think about that. By the way, that purple elephant goes to bed with him every night (thanks Barb and Tony!), it keeps him entertained in the morning too!
Anyway, last hurdle of the weekend, couldn’t get the camper back in the driveway. With Bruce at work, I was grateful one of my neighbors came to the rescue and put the camper in the driveway and took it off the truck for me! Just in time too, the first few rain drops of the weekend started to fall from the sky! You want to know about the bonus, Jadyn stayed up all day Monday too! I was officially dying at that point. I totaled up my sleep for the weekend and realized that I had only slept about 9 hours, total. Those 4:00 a.m. bedtimes and 6:15 wake up calls can really take a toll on anyone, let alone a 30 something mom. Can’t do it like I used to, but we did have a lot of fun!
This week brought a pivotal moment. Sam graduated from Pre-K. She was very excited about getting in a dress, which I didn’t think I would ever say out loud. When I got home from work, she was fresh out of the tub so I painted her toe nails, put her hair if four ponies (she had to have four) and she was ready to go. She posed for pictures with Jadyn, Mom and Dad.
Then we were on our way, but she was unusually quite. I asked if she was okay and she said she was nervous. They had to sing a few songs in front of the crowd and I think she was experiencing stage fright for the first time. Something I don’t ever remember having. When we arrived at school she began to relax and was very excited about putting on her cap and gown. Her big “Johnson” head and four ponies were a challenge with the cap, but it all worked out.
Jadyn entertained us with his own version of singing and smiling while we waited for the program to start!
Here is the LaPetite Class of 2009!
Here is a short clip of the grads coming in.
Take note of the camera clicking. I image that is what it must be like when a big celebrity encounters the paparazzi. It was hysterical. The tallest kid was last, of course. Here is the most understandable song the kids sang.
The other songs were a complete debacle. I give the teachers a lot of credit for handing so many toddlers at once. We only have one and feels like that is too many sometimes!
Here is Samantha and her Teacher Ms. Sharon!
Sam shared a graduation kiss with Jadyn!
We got a family picture and even Jadyn is smiling!
Here is Samantha and her Diploma!
Proud Dad and Samantha!
Proud Mom and Samantha!
We celebrated by going to dinner at Red Robin. Sam kept her gown on at the restaurant! A very exciting day for the Berman Family!
And one last comment for the road. Congratulations to our friends T and Chelle on their recent engagement. Wedding bells will ring on May 15, 2010 and I am honored to be a part of their festivities. You ladies know what it is like to wear that bridesmaids dress all day. By the end of the day, you are done and you really just want the dress off. If I had a crystal ball, I imagine this is what I would see at the end T and Chelles wedding night.
Thanks to Cheri’s creativity, we got a good visual the first time the dress was put on! Are you okay or do you have an itch? I love you girl! Until next time…
